AP Literature

This course has been approved by the College Board as a college-level English literature course and will prepare students for rigorous college reading and writing.  The literature content will focus not only on classic poetry and drama, but also on classic and contemporary novels.  The literature will not focus on a specific era or time period, but will offer students a wider variety of authors and texts than British Literature 12.  The majority of class time will be spent in large group discussion and literary analysis.  Weekly vocabulary assessment is an important aspect of the course.  Writing prompts will be assigned and assessed with the goal of preparing students to score well on the AP exam.  Summer reading and writing assignments must be completed in order for students to remain in the course.  Students and parents must sign AP Statement of Understanding.
