AP Calculus AB

Course Description:
This course is offered to students who have successfully completed the academic mathematics track up to and including Precalculus. The course is offered to prepare the students for college mathematics, especially those students interested in business, the sciences, mathematics, computer science, or engineering. The subject matter includes limits and their properties, differentiation, applications of differentiation, integration, logarithmic, exponential, and other transcendental functions. This is a college-level course that follows the College Board Advanced Placement curriculum and syllabus. This will be an intensive, fast-paced course with commensurate homework. There is an emphasis on conceptual understanding and working with functions represented graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally. Students must complete a summer assignment and will be tested on this assignment the first day of class. A scientific calculator is required. The goal of AP Calculus AB is thorough preparation for the Advanced Placement exam and college calculus courses. Students and parents must sign AP Statement of Understanding.
