The purpose of the Robotics Club is to exploit the capabilities of the Marion Center S.T.E.A.M. Robotics Lab & Maker Space in the Marion Center High School. The club and its participating members will construct automated machines that can further demonstrate the effectiveness of the Marion Center Robotics program and curriculum. The club will enter these “robots” in competitions or will hold competitions at Marion Center for other surrounding schools to compete in. This will benefit Marion Center Area School District in showcasing the capabilities of its Robotics Lab & Maker Space Facility.

We would like to congratulate the Advanced Robotics classes for receiving the INNOVATE AWARD at their VEX competition Friday, December 6! The Innovate Award recognizes an effective and well documented design process for a novel aspect of the team’s robot design or gameplay strategy. The intent of this award is to emphasize design aspects that are unique, novel, and creative, in addition to being well documented and in use at the event.
The team identified a specific section in their notebook covering the origin and development of a single-design element, their intake conveyor system, that was a key part of their team’s robot design in use at the event. The development was well-documented from initial conception through execution and demonstrated a clear, complete, and organized record of the Engineering Design Process. Both the Team Interview and Engineering Notebook demonstrated independent inquiry from the beginning stages of their design process through execution that explained their robot design and game strategy. The team demonstrated effective communication skills, teamwork, professionalism, and a student-centered ethos.
