Course Description:

Environmental Science is a full-year course required for ninth grade students.  The course will create an awareness of and an appreciation for the natural processes that sustain life on earth, including human life.  Environmental science includes the following topics: basic concepts of ecology and energy flow, population dynamics, energy and energy resources, air, water, and land pollution issues, solid and hazardous waste disposal and treatment, biodiversity and endangered species, resource conservation and recycling, and sustainability.  The information in Environmental Science is relevant to everyday living and will provide students with basic scientific knowledge and skills regardless of the careers that they pursue.
