Department Goal:
The overall goal of the Science Department is to expose students to a variety of relevant scientific concepts and to the latest scientific research such that the student will be curious about his/her world and will have a better understanding of how the world works. Students will be challenged to be independent thinkers and problem solvers, and will recognize the value of strong peer-reviewed scientific research. Scientific inquiry, enhancing laboratory skills, and experiencing real-world science are a part of all courses in the Science Department. From all of this, the science student will develop into a lifelong learner who is capable of thinking critically about any issue, and he/she will be an integral part of society regardless of career choice. It is expected, however, that some students will in fact choose one of many exciting careers in science or engineering, based on the experiences presented to them in their secondary education.
