Spanish I

This course is offered to the capable and enthusiastic ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade student who desires to learn a foreign language and is able to schedule it. In level 1, emphasis is placed on vocabulary and narration in the present tense, as well as idiomatic expressions and colloquialisms used in everyday situations. Instruction will be almost explicitly in the target language in order to develop strong comprehension skills. Students will be required to use spoken output in the target language to develop a high degree of speed and natural proficiency in speaking. Relevant and entertaining cultural items, such as songs, literature, and videos, will also be used in class to develop skills in reading and writing Spanish.
