Media Literacy

Course Description: 
Media Literacy is a 9 week course designed for 7th grade learners. The Digital Citizenship curriculum will help students navigate the digital world. The lessons are designed to empower students to think critically, behave safely and participate responsibly in the digital world. Discussions and work will include topics in the area of Privacy & Security, Digital Footprint & Reputation, Relationships & Communication, Information Literacy, Cyberbullying & Digital Drama and Internet Safety. The curriculum being used is from Common Sense Education. Lessons from
multiple grade levels that cover the same topics will be used. Copyright & Creativity will also be taught in this course. This course is designed to help students identify and understand their roles as ethical creators and
consumers online. Students will be able to identify and react to safe online behavior, cyberbullying
and responsible use of social media.
