MC Cyber Academy FAQs

The Top 10 MC Cyber Academy Frequently Asked Questions…ANSWERED! J

  1. 1. Can my child return to the building once they are in the MC Cyber Academy?

YES!!! He/she can definitely return to the classroom setting when you both feel comfortable coming back!  When the time comes that you would like him/her to return to the building for instruction you'll just need to give us a call to get them set up to come back!  That gives us time to get transportation, homerooms, schedules, lockers, etc. organized for them, and is a fantastic feature of coming to the MC Cyber Academy.

  1. 2. Will students be supplied with a laptop to do their work?

Students receive a Chromebook from the district to complete all of their schoolwork.  We meet with the students personally to give them their device and to help them get logged in to their Edgenuity learning account.

   3. Will the teacher just be monitoring my child’s work?

Our Cyber Teachers take pride in seeing your child progress and succeed.  They will be checking assignments and assigning grades to classwork within the Academy.  Students also have the opportunity to meet face-to-face via Zoom/Google Meets with each of their teachers each week during office hours to discuss the assignments, get help, reinforcement or enrichment in the class. (There are videos below for you to get a glimpse into an MC Cyber classroom and assignments!)

   4.  How many classes will my child make?

Students enrolled in our Pre-K class will have a customized learning experience that focuses on both computer-based learning and practical hands on tasks to help students begin to learn letters and numbers, parts of a story and listening skills.

Students enrolled in grades K through 2 will have Language Arts/Reading, Math, and Specials Classes.

Students enrolled in grades 3-6 will have Language Arts, Math, Science/Social Studies and Specials Classes.

Students enrolled in grades 7-12 will have a schedule in the MC Cyber Academy that closely matches what they would have scheduled had they been attending in the building.  It will include the four major content areas as well as electives.

    6. Does my child have to log in at a specific time or can they work on their own schedule?

Students are able to log in at any time throughout the day to complete assignments.  In fact, they can log in on the weekend if they need to!  The MC Cyber program is flexible to families and their schedules and is designed to work around the timeframe that your family has for your child to complete their assigned work.

   7. What if my child has an IEP/GIEP/504 Plan? Will they still get the extra help that they need?

We want our MC Cyber Stingers to be successful! All students that have IEPs, GIEPs, and 504 plans still receive support through the MC Cyber Academy.  We have learning support/special education teachers to assist with accommodations to create a learning environment that students are able to be successful in!

  1. 8.  Do you have a deadline for enrollment?

Families can enroll in the MC Cyber Academy at any time.  Enrollments take 3-5 school days to process.

   9. Can my son/daughter still participate in extracurricular activities/ICTC?

YES!  We are happy to have your child participate in the extracurricular activities that they generally take part in…they are still MC Stingers!  The same is true for ICTC.  Students that participate in ICTC will still attend, and can complete their Cyber coursework when they return home each day.

   10. How can I enroll my child in the MC Cyber Academy?
